Foothills Field Marshall, First place Connemara, Second overall, Modified Division at the GVRDC Horse Trials (August 2019)

It was a real thrill to watch my homebred, Foothills Field Marshall, cruise around the steeplechase of a Big Prelim 3-day course at the KY Horse Park and tackle the big hard questions on cross-country. Elliott Timmons gave him a great ride, while her chief support and mother, Cathy Blackmon, along with owner, Donna Duckworth, and breeder, Vanessa Morgan, and Elliott's husband Eli cheered them on from the safety of the ground!

Congratulations to Elliott Timmons, rider/trainer, on her 3rd place finish at Preliminary in the Indiana Horse Trials, riding Foothills Field Marshall (on the right) She writes: "Just home from a fairy tale weekend with the best ponies, both were 3rd in their divisions and were just fantastic! Thank you to everyone who made it happen!!!!! — at Hoosier Horse Park." 6/3/18

2013 USEA American Eventing, Tyler, Texas (excerpt from a report by Donna Duckworth )
After many years in Chicago and then in Fairburn, GA, the American Eventing Championships were held this year in Tyler, Texas on September 24-28 on the lush green hills of the Texas Rose Horse Park. Four hundred and forty-two horses came from all over the USA to compete in fifteen divisions from Junior Beginner Novice to Advanced. They had qualified by completing (Intermediate and Advanced) or earning ribbons (the number and placings varied with the levels) along with no jumping penalties in cross-country in USEA-recognized horse trials. Among the 442 were six purebred Connemaras. Two were bred in Virginia. Of the six, five finished in the ribbons in 1st through 8th place and participated in the exciting victory gallops.

Foothill's Field Marshall aka Bruiser, owned by Donna Duckworth, finished second in his division, Beginner Novice. He also was tied for third after dressage with a 29.5 and moved up to second after a clean XC, but stayed in second after both he and the first place horse went clean in stadium.

He then turned his sights to the eventing world and began training with Elliott Blackmon. After winning three Beginner Novice events he was qualified for the USEA American EVENTING Championships. These were held the weekend of September 27 at the Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler, TX and Bruiser was the RESERVE CHAMPION. He was tied for third out of 23 after dressage in his division. Half brother, WH Top Gun, was first out of 33 in his division! Both were ridden by Elliott Blackmon.

Sept 16 2013 Elliott Blackmon took Bruiser (Foothills Field Marshall) to his first Novice horse trial today.....and he won!! Had a 29.4 in dressage with no jumping or time faults.

2012 Dressage Bronze Medallion

10/5/12 USDF Regional Dressage Championships, Fairburn, GA, Chattahoochee Hills

Luke McLaughlin rode Foothills Field Marshall in the Training Level Championships against 23 other fantastic horses and many professional riders They finished just outside the ribbons. Luke did a wonderful job and Bruiser was very steady and consistent. Nobody would know from his behavior and performance that he is a 4 yr old stallion!

In 2012 he earned scores of 68.9, 69.6, 70 and 73% at two recognized dressage shows and qualified for the Regional Dressage Championships in Atlanta last Fall where he came in 12th out of 25.

Luke just called to tell me that Bruiser, i.e., Foothills Field Marshall, won BOTH his classes at the Canterbury May Days dressage show with scores in the 70's. He has never been to a recognized dressage show where he didn't win everything he entered!! He is now qualified for Regionals. AND his first baby o/o Hillside Emily is due in a few weeks. He is da man!!!!!!

Bruiser, a 4 year old Connemara stallion, competing at Canterbury Showplace on May 13th, 2012. Ridden and trained by Luke Mclaughlin. Bruiser is simply fantastic to work with and he is so proud of Bruiser! First place in Training test 2 with 70% and first place in Training test 3 with 72%! Now we are qualified for regionals!!

Bruiser won both his classes at his first USDF show! Was in Training Level 2 with only 3 people, but then did Training 3 in a qualifying class of 10! Lots of Warmbloods and very experienced trainers...the judge said, "I just love that horse!". Had 68 and 69%. DOrlando Dressage Spring Show or something like that. At the Ocala Horse Park. Bruiser made his show debut and he was WONDERFUL. Only off the farm once before and the first thing he had to deal with was a couple of bicycles and a golf cart headed right for him! He seems to have taken it all in stride, however. He earning a first place for Intro Test B with a 66% and a second place for Intro Test A with 60%, ridden by Luke McLaughlin. (10/31/10)
