Clare goes to Pony Club camp

Here is
Foothills Faithfilly
at 5, all grown up now. We had planned to go to the Region 5 show this past weekend with Faith and her yearling Mike Mulligan, but they canceled the show so we went to Pony Club camp instead. We joined a great pony club this year and this was our first experience with camp... Faith and Clare both learned so much and Faith was an just angel pony all weekend. There was a mock combined test at the end and they
won
the intro division (out of 5). After some of the things we saw at pony club, I am so thankful to have Clare mounted on a good sensible Connemara, and Clare definitely has renewed appreciation for what a good pony she has!

Foothills Smokey Bay
aka Sophy (Gunsmoke X Ballywhim Candace) delivered a very sweet bay colt (below) on Monday Jun 9th. He's by my young stallion Tullymor's Samson MacDara (Tullymor's Chip o Perseus [Heyselden Perseus x Tre Awain Sileach]) X Tullymor's Ursula May( Montully Son X Aillte Mhuire). This is my very first purebred foal so is extra special. (have been breeding 1/2 and 3/4 bred's up til now)… My kids love having a foal *just their size*. He's just 1 day old in these pics so still a little scrunched!” Smokey Bay is full sister to WH Topgun who was the sire of last week’s featured foal.

(*Gunsmoke X Ballywhim Candace) has had his first purebred foal. Kathy Bridges announced that Balmullo’s Matilda (Seven Hills Grey Ghost X Balmullo’s Veronica) has produced a filly foal (below) with lots of bling!! Kathy said she thought about calling her Kite because of her kite-like blaze, but has settled on Kate instead. Top Gun is the only son of Gunsmoke currently standing at stud in this country. He was the Grand Champion Connemara in hand at the 2007 Region 4 Connemara show.
My Florida horse trip - one down, two back

I just returned from a whirl-wind trip to Alachua, FL, where I visited and rode with Donna Duckworth, daughter, Alexandra, and precious granddaughter, Summer. Besides enjoying a lovely visit with friends, the purpose of the trip was to take Roary home (
C.R. Roaringwater Bay
) , and bring home my mare,
Foothills MayBee
. I brought Bee home, but left her 2008 foal,
Foothills Field Marshall
, with Donna. This was the first time I had seen Marshall and WOW, is he impressive! It was a tough decision leaving him behind, but I already have three young'uns to manage, so I think I did the right thing. I am also please to now have
Balmullo's Catfish
with us. He is a rising 2 year old bay gelding by Seven Hills Grey Ghost, out of Tullymor's Shandora.
During my brief visit at Balmullo's Farm, I also got to enjoy two wonderful trail rides through the Temple of the Universe. On Friday, I rode Donna's Emma and Alexandra rode
Ruby
. Early Saturday morning we embarked on another ride before my long drive home, this time with Donna on Emma, Alexandra on Ruby and I rode Stephanie's half-Connemara, Annie. Unfortunately, I had forgotten my camera.

Piedmont Rosie O'Grady

) has a new lovely lady to call owner. I had a hard time letting this one go, but I know that Kate Denton (Camden, SC) will give this filly the love and attention she deserves. Kate writes " Rosie is fabulous!!!!!!!! She is so sweet and so smart and so cute! She calmly walked off the trailer (I don't think she moved on there for the entire 6 1/2 hour trip) and I led her around for a while. Then I put Ceile's halter on and let her into his big pasture and led him around and she just followed. Ceile is pretty much ignoring her (will not play!) so they just hang out and graze or eat hay. She just loves people (my friend Drew came today and just got to know her a bit, picked up her feet (no problem) and had her turn her head and lead in a circle - she was perfect."

Arizona filly has arrived

Congratulations to Tracy Scheinkman, Misty Mountain Arabian Sport Horses, Tucson, AZ, on the arrival of her bucksin filly by
*Gun Smoke
. The filly is out of Tracy's Arabian mare, Misty Cinnamon; Tracy reports that the filly is just what she ordered:-) She is strong, healthy and very well put together.

Our fourth and final foal of the year has arrived

Our two February foals escaped the worst of the weather.
The first was a very sweet bundle of joy bay colt, born out of Foothills Hopefilly on 2/28/08; this is her second foal
.
The next one was born the following day, 2/29/08, so she is called Leapling. She's a gorgeous buckskin
(with a dark dorsal strip) out of Foothills River Queen and she is just as cute and playful as she can be. Both are doing splendidly.

in residence at Balmullo's Farm to foal for me in order to avoid the inclimate Tennessee weather. Donna reported that this foal by

is a big bay colt with huge legs and that the mare and foal are both in great shape. Thanks, Donna!!
